Expensive Vs Cheap Makeup

If you are a fan of makeup then you really do not have to splash the cash to get some nice products.
Of course there is a reason why some brands are more expensive than others, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out.
I'm a massive fan of going in to super drug and Boots and covering myself in swatches for everything any anything. Brands like BarryM offer a great range of colourful makeup products at super bargain prices!
If you want some more subtle colours, the Boots range, No7, is fab! Their mascaras are my favourite, I don't go any where else for mascara now.
Or Maxfactor, L'Oreal or collection 2000. All great brands with lots to offer.
Don't think that you are settling, cause you aren't even professionals use cheaper products, because the quality is no worse than MAC, chanel and others, most of the time!
It is way more cost effective to built your collection up with things that you like at prices which are affordable, rather than one of two expensive items.
Any make up can be used to create awesom looks.

Urban Decay Shimmer Primer Potion

This primer is an amazing base if you want to create a more dynamic look with your makeup. It adds more shape as the shine that falls on your face will compliment the bone structure.
It is very creamy and easy to apply. If you are looking for a very simple look, you can use it just on its own as an eyeshadow, or you can layer it with a matte colour across your lid, this will create a very interesting contrast.
The best placement is just under your brow, it will act as a high lighter and will automatically give you face a lift.
This is a beautiful product and can be coupled with any look to add that subtle shine and glamour.

Here you can see that I have used the primer a long my brow bone. It lifts the appearance of my eyes and contrasts with the cat eye shape I created with the matte black eyeshadow.

BUT, you don't have to use the prime just on your eyes. True it is an eyeshadow potion, however, you can use this along the top of your cheek bone as a high light also, and you will get a second lift effect.

The shine isn't too dramatic, so it gives you the appearance of a natural glow.

This product retails at around £15 and is a great buy. This will never be a one use product, DEFINITELY an essential!

Blending Brush

The Blending Brush is one of the Key Items that you should have in a Makeup Brush Kit

Some people call the blending brush a fluffy brush. Named because it's a very light... fluffy brush. It should never be brushed through a palette, it's not for putting shadow onto your eyes. You want to keep your blending brush relatively clean at all times.

The style most benefited by the brush is 'smokey eye'. You use the brush by lightly taking it over the edge of where your eye shadow ends. It won't blend strait away, it requires a few strokes over the area but eventually it will create a really nice, light appearance and you won't have a sharp edge to the shadow.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

I use primer on my eyes, without fail, every time that I put makeup one, even if i'm only using eye liner. There are many different primers out there. You can get tinted ones so that you have an even base to put your make up on. Or you can get clear ones that are purely for keeping your makeup on. Primer is preparation for your eyes. It will stop your make up from creasing and will make it last a whole lot longer. I have never had a problem with the Urban Decay Prime Potion. It is of thin consistency and has a very slight nude tint. You don't have to apply a lot to the eye because it spreads really easily and works well with just a think layer. I also have a shimmer version of the primer potion which is a bronzy colour, it works in the same way but it acts as a highlight also. Most palettes that you buy from Urban Decay come with a small Primer Potion to use with the shadows. To buy it on it's own is around £15, but it's is worth the money, it lasts a long time and it works wonders!!! The Primer that I have (the one in the picture) I believe is being taken off the market soon. Not the actual primer, just that specific bottle. The new ones are the same price, same primer, but come in a squeezable tube.

If you do have that problem where your makeup appears in crease lines after a while, the primer will solve that for you!!!

Rimmel Lipstick

RIMMEL Red Lipstick, SHADE: ALARM

Red Lipstick is very popular at the moment with the 40's fashion coming back. So I know that a lot of people are trying to find a good brand that they can stick with. This is the one that I use, and to be honest, I wouldn't look else where now, although I am happy to try things out. The texture is smooth and has the right thickness for the Red to be really vibrant with one application. I rarely have to top it up in the day or evening, even after meals and/or drinks. It has lasted me a long time and hasn't melted or broke at anytime. I can't remember the price but I believe that it was around £6. I imagine you can pick it up at different prices and in deals in different retailers. There is always a 'Try Me' Stick so, even if you are unsure, definitely try it out!!!

Urban Decay Ink For Eyes

Ink For Eyes Black Eye Liner

This eyeliner is one of the best that I own and that I have ever used. It comes with a double ended tool. One side an angled eye liner brush and the other a smudging sponge. The brush is prefect size and thickness to create a really clean and sleek line either above or below the eye. It lasts all day, I have never had to re-apple when wearing this liner. Also the black ink style is thick so one stroke gives you a perfect opaque black.
There are a few different colours in the 'Ink for Eyes' by Urban Decay. So if you prefer colour to black, you can still give it a try.
This product is perfect for if you like the 'cat eye' style. You can create a really smooth line across the eye lid, and end it with a really fine flick using the brush provided.

BarryM Glitter Liners

I bought one BarryM Glitter liner. My first was the Gold. This is still the one I use more regularly. It says it all that I went out and bought two more colours! I really love these glitter liners. I never needed to go to another brand because BarryM has got it perfect really. The colours aren't over powering, but they add a really nice sparkle and element of fun to any look.

If you are unsure on bold, colourful makeup styles then I think a glitter liner is the perfect way to funk up for make up just a little bit if you are going out on the town or to a party or something.
The BarryM liners dry really quick and they stay put, You don't get glitter all over your face...at all! which is a problem with a lot of other glittery makeup products.
Definitely give a BarryM glitter liner a go, they aren't expensive, around £5 and you can use them over and over again. They last a really long time!!!

Dr. Nick Lowe Cleanser

Purifying foaming cleanser from 'Dr. nick Lowe Dermotologist'

This cleanser is smooth and easy to use. You use a cleanser just after you have washed your face to leave your pores clean and tightened. You just apply one plunge onto your hand and rub it into your skin. This cleanser does have a small amount of exfoliating beads in it but you barely feel them, they just remove any dead skin cells you have on your face. As it isnt a harsh exfoliant the cleanser is suitable to be used daily. The directions advise use once in the morning and then again in the evening. When I bought this product I expected it to be a liquid which foams up when you rub it into your face but it is just foam as it comes out. It is really easy to spread around the face and it is really light and rubs in very easily. After you have applied it you just rinse it off with Lukewarm water. Easy and simple. You can find this product for around £10 which is reasonable as it comes in a large bottle so it lasts for a long stretch of time, also it feeds a lot of vitamins in to your skin to make it healthier, such asvitimins A, C and E which maximises skins absorption at cellular level. It also adds niacinamide which targets skin which is prone to spots and blemishes and salicylic acid, willow bark and arnica which are anti bacterials.

'Mudd' Mask

Mudd original mask.

This product is a deep cleansing pure clay formula face mask. The one I got came in a squeezey sachet and is usable for up to 10 applications. It completely depends on your preference on thickness of application to how long it last but it is quite a thick clay so you dont really have to paste it on. You can get the 'mudd' original mask in trial packs which are just one application sachets.

You are advised by the instructions to keep the mask on for 10 - 15 minutes. If you aren't used to wearing clay masks then it might start to feel uncomfortable as it sets as it tightens your skin. You just need to stick with it.

Personally I would advise not to use face masks daily. It's like using exfoliators, if you use it to regularly you can really dry your skins out because you are removing the top layer of your skins which is vital for protecting your new skin cells which are developing underneath. As you get older and have more mature skin you develop new layers of skins slower so it doesn't effect your skins as much to use masks or exfoliators. In fact with more mature skin, exfoliators and mud masks will benefit you more with regular use because it will take away the dead skin which looses elasticity very quickly.

Face Wipes

For all Makeup Lovers there is one thing that is more than essential than makeup itself. Face wipes!

Face wipes are sold everywhere; the supermarket, drugs stores, corner shops. I don't know about you, but when I buy face wipes, I get as many as I can! I have tried many different brands of face wipe but with out a doubt the Simple cleansing wipes have won my vote. They are my go to now and I think they should be yours too!
This is why:
Simple cleansing wipes tend to be in some kind of offer at Superdrug, Boots and Savers ALL the time. So they aren't expensive to stock up on and they don't dry out if you keep them for a while. They don't leave you face feeling greasy like some do, which is a massive plus! These wipes don't have any colouring in, and they also don't have perfumes in.
(A lot of people get allergies from face wipes, and main reason is because the product has perfume in. If you don't now if your allergic or not, go safe and try the non fragrance wipes, it doesn't make a difference really anyway!)
To be honest, the simple wipes actually smell nice any way because they have a lot of natural ingredients that smell really fresh.
The wipes are also oil and alcohol free, so that's another allergy avoided.
AND: NO ANIMAL DERIVED INGREDIENTS!!!!
So ingredients-wise these wipes are good for everyone (still check the label incase of other allergies you may have).

The performance is the most important, obviously. These wipes take make up of very easily and quickly. You don't have to rub your face raw which you do have to with some other wipes.
Just as a daily facial cleansing wipe these will leave you feeling fresh. They also have PRO-VITAMIN B5 in which repairs damaged skin and moisturises.

All in All.... Facial wipes are a must have so it's easier for yourself to have a go to brand. I highly recommend the Simple wipes so definitely give them a go!!

(I can't stress enough for you to check all labels of products you are buying. You need to make sure that there are no ingredients that may cause you to have an allergic reaction. If you get an irritation from a product you are using, stop and throw it out, you are probably allergic and it will do you no good.)

Urban Decay Lipstick

I got this lipstick just over a year ago. I used it once.
BUT do you know what, the colour of it is really nice and it has a really nice smooth finish. The reason why I dislike this lipstick, and wen I say this to people they laugh, it tastes horrible. Lipstick goes on your lips, so when you roll them to spread the lipstick out you do kind of taste it, but this is over whelming. It taste metalicy and it doesn't go away.
I'd really like to hear from you if you have had the same problem because I don't know anyone else who has an Urban Decay Lipstick. So go onto my contact page and tell me what you think!!!
On the up side, if you can get over the strange taste, the colours are brilliant. Also the case is beautiful, it has a sword handle and clear patterned Lid.

M.A.C PIGMENT

If you are a makeup lover. Then M.A.C Pigments are the way forward!

You can pick a M.A.C pigment powder pot up for around £15. There is a massive selection to pick from. The image above is 'Magenta Madness'. This pink is not for the faint heart. This is a shocking pink pigment, but there are many more subtle colours. There are different pigments to suit ever makeup lovers style.

All though price seems quite steep for one colour. The M.A.C pigment colours don't need to be layered on thick as they are super strong. This means they last for a long, long time! Think of the £15 as an investment!!!

My Favourite Makeup

My Favourite: Lip Stick

Is: REVLON, 170 ALARM

Because: This lipstick is the only one I have found that balances moisture and pigment perfectly. A lot of the time, if you get a moist lipstick the colour is light and/or it rubs off very easily. The Revlon stays on until I wipe it off, even after drinking and eating. This colour specifically I love. It is a classic matte red, so it completes a 40s look really nicely.

My Favourite: Mascara

Is: NO7, EXQUISITE CURL, BLACK

Because: It lasts all day!!! Also it is amazing to apply. The fibres aren't watery so I rarely get any black specks on my eyelid. The brush is the best I have ever used. It is a curved brush, similar to the natural curve of the eyelid. This makes it easier and faster to apply the mascara. It also stop the eyelashes from sticking together or getting over-coated.

My Favourite: Eyeshadow

Is: URBAN DECAY, from NAKED PALETTE, VIRGIN

Because: it is a great shade to compliment any look. It is very lightly pigmented with a tan colour and has a beautiful shimmer to it. I mostly use it as a highlight just below my brow. It adds that extra dimension to the eyes to make them pop. It is also a great colour to use for the inside of the eyelid when creating a two toned look.

My Favourite: Foundation

Is: L'ORIEL, TRUE MATCH, ROSE IVORY

Because: it is the first foundation I have found which is light enough to match my natural skin tone. Also the range of colours is amazing. L'oriel doesn't only offer a great variation of shades but they also do warm and cool tones for each shade. The colour I use is pale but has a warm tone. Also the consistency of the foundation makes it easy to spread without having to layer it on thickly.

My Favourite: Palette

Is: BENEFIT, SMOKIN EYES

Because: it is small but it offers quite a variation of looks. There are three shadows in the palette; Pastel Pink, Shimmering Grey and a Matte Brown. The pink is a nice highlight colour and leaves the eyelid with a nice smooth appearance. The grey in the palette I use A LOT. First appearance it looks quite dark, but you can use it with any colour if you want to have a multi tone look. it blends really nicely, and because it shimmers it accentuates the shape of the eye. The matte brown, is as it is but it does have a good consistency and is the perfect tone to use in the eye lid crease.

Also in the palette is: a double ended brush (blending and angle), eyebrow wax, highlight cream, eye brow plucker and black eye liner, instructions on how to create a smokey eye look.

All the products in the palette have lasted me a long time, I still have all of them now.

I would recommend this palette to ANYONE. You can create subtle and dramatic looks with it.

It is great to put in your handbag and take out incase you need to touch up during the evening or day.

The eye brow shaping equipment is amazing, and is actually what first got me into shaping my eyebrows, I now do it daily. Definitely try it out if you see it about!!!

Hello and Welcome to my brand new Beauty Blog!

First of all, Thank YOU for coming and visiting!!

As my Blog is very new, there are lots of reviews and tutorials to come, so don't be put off by the blank blog appearance at the moment.

I am going to be setting up a request box so that you can submit ideas for makeup tutorials.
Also if there is a product you are wondering about, I will stick a review up for you as soon as I can.

I am a massive makeup addict. From lipsticks to pigment shadows. My aim is to collect every colour in every makeup medium. I have favourite brands and I will talk about them later in the Blog. I don't dismiss anything before I try it! I will try anything new, and experiment with styles.

I wouldn't say I, personally, have a specific style that I stick to. I get bored very quickly if I do the same thing over and over. So I like to mix things up. Therefore this blog will probably portray this!!

I am very excited to be starting up a new Blog and I hope you will revisit when I have more up and written.
